Past Events

2005 Rules

(l) Object: For amateurs outside of the state of Alabama to make contact with as many Alabama stations/counties as possible. Alabama stations work everyone.

(2) Contest Period: 1800 UTC to 2400 UTC, September 25, 2005.

(3) Categories:

(A) Single Operator. One person performs all operating and logging functions. Use of spotting nets (operator arrangements involving assistance through DX-alert nets, Packetcluster, etc) is not permitted. Only one transmitted signal on the air at any one time.
(B) Multi operators. Those obtaining any form of assistance, such as relief operator, loggers, or use of spotting nets.
(1) Multi-Single. Only one transmitted signal on the air at any time.
(2) Multi-multi. More than one transmitted signal on the air at any time. No simultaneous SSB/CW or FM on one band at the same time.
(C) Mobile/Rover. Mobile/Rover is a station that is self-contained (radio, antenna, power source capable of motion. Mobile/Rover entrants may be either Single Operator or Multioperator.

(4) Power. Three power output categories for all categories. Logs not showing power out category will be list as high power.
(A) QRP - 5 watts output or less.
(B) Low Power (LP) - 150 watts or less
(C) High Power (HP) - more than 150 watts output.

(5) Modes. All entrants may operate:
(A) Mixed mode (Phone, CW and FM)
(B) Phone only
(C) FM only
(D) CW only

(6) Contest Exchange:
(A) Alabama stations send signal report and county.
(B) W/VE stations (including KH6/KL7) send signal report and state or province.
(C) DX stations (including KH2/KP4, etc) send signal report and DXCC prefix.

(7) Scoring: QSO points: All QSOs count one point. Maximum of 67 counties.
(A) Alabama Stations. QSOs x (states + AL counties + DXCC entities) counted once per band.
(B) Non-Alabama Stations. QSO x AL counties (counted once per band).

(8) Suggested Frequencies. Operate consistant with ARRL band plans for 160M to 70cm. Please be aware of Alabama Mobile/Rover stations.

(9) Miscellaneous.
(A) Call signs and exchange information must be received by each station for a complete QSO.
(B) No cross mode contact. CW/SSB/FM contacts must be made in thier respective portions of the band.
(C) Stations may be worked once per mode, per band (and mobiles in each new county).
(D) Your call sign must indicate your DXCC country.

(10) Reporting/Log Submission.
(A) Logs should be submitted not later than 30 days after the end of the contest (October 25th, 2005).  All entrants are encourage to submit their logs electronically, either as an attachment to email or on a MS DOS formated 3.5" floppy disk.
(B) The log file format is Cabrillo.
(C) For email,  submit your contest logs to: logs@alabamaqsoparty.org
(D) For 3.5" disk submission/paper logs:  Submit your log on disk/paper to Jim Johnson/KC4HW, 6274 South CR 49, Slocomb, AL 36375-5528.
(E) NOTE:  Prefer electronic or 3.5" disk logs, however will accept paper logs. Please see printable log sheet for paper logs on this page.  All logs must indicate category, band, mode, date, time (UTC), calls sent and recevied and contest exchange information. Rovers must indicate in which County they were located during exchange.
(F) Received Logs will be listed on the Alabama QSO Party web site.

(11) Results. Results will be posted to the web site.
