2008 County Activity

If you are planning on operating, either as a fixed station or mobile/rover from an Alabama County(ies), please let me know your callsign, category, mode, what county(ies) and when you will be operating, by sending email to me. Thanks!

Clubs activities:
The following clubs have indicated that they will participate in the 2008 AQP.

  • Birmingham ARC Contact John Outland, K3FP for information.
  • Bishop State Community College ARC, Mobile, AL will be operating Phone only using the club call KJ4BWI. Operators will be William Autry (KI4YZC) and Marvin Waller (KJ4BBT).
  • Drake State Technical College, Huntsville, Al will be active on PH using the club call N4DTC.
  • Heart of Dixie ARC, Lochapoka, AL W4HOD will activate our club call for the AQP from our clubhouse. I see our club listed, but please add that we will be using our club station. Don Huey, KA4NDY at ka4ndy@arrl.net for more info.
  • Lee County ARC will activate their club station using W4LEE. Contact Tom Moore, WX4TM for details
  • Montgomery ARC
  • Russell County Radio Club will activate their club station WX4RUS.
  • South Baldwin ARC will be active from their club station KI4ELU.
  • West Central Alabama ARC, Jasper, AL operated by NR4G


Mobile Stations:
  • AB9CA/4 Dave from Loxley, AL is planning to operate in the following counties are Escambia, Conecuh, Monroe, Clark, Washington, Mobile and Baldwin. CW only.
  • W4OZK/m Greg from Harvest, AL plans to operate from DeKalb and some of the surrounding counties while traveling back from the Atlanta Hamfest.
  • KN4Y/m, Ed from Florida: Plans on a solo run in this order, Houston, Dale, Coffee, Covington, Crenshaw, Butler, Monroe, Conecuh, Escambia. Will go to 80-meters after dark. I plan to try 160-meters the last hour. I will stop and run 15-meters, 20-meters and 40 meters until dark.
  • NY4N/m, Jeff & AF4GB, Becky from Tennessee will again be activity on CW only from: 1. Lauderdale, 2. Lawerence, 3. Colbert, 4. Franklin, 5. Marion, 6. Winston, 7.Walker, 8. Fayette, 9. Tuscaloosa, 10. Bibb, 11. Chilton, 12. AUTUGA, 13. LOWDNES, 14. MONTGOMERY, 15. Elmore, 16. COOSA, 17. Talladega, 18. Shelby, 19. Jefferson, 20. Blount, 21. Cullman, 22. Morgan. 23. Limestone, 24. Madison May get one more if everything runs smooth. CW only. 40 most all day with 20 and 80 m on side.
  • K4ZGB/m, Tom from Northport, Al will be operating from Winston, Walker, Marion, Fayette, Lamar, Pickens, Tuscaloosa, Green, Sumter(maybe), Hale, Marengo, Perry and Dallas. Tom indicates that he will have an average of 55 minutes driving and operating for each county. Tom said, that he drove most of the route and three groups of the counties are in a 5 to 10 miles radius. If he gets behind he may have to skip some.
  • KC4HW/m, Jim and Bonnie (the driver), from Fadette, AL, CW only, tentative plans will include Bullock, Pike, Crenshaw, Bulter, Lowndes, Dallas, Wilcox, Perry, Hale, Marengo, Sumter, Choctaw, Washington (?), Clarke, Monroe, Conecuh, Covington, Coffee and Geneva (and possibly Houston depending on time). I plan to be on 20m and 40m, maybe some 15m if the band is open.
  • K4EXT/m, Gary and KG4VBK/m, Justin (a Father/Son combination) from Ozark, AL will be mobile in Dale, Geneva, Houston, Henry, Coffee, Barbour and Pike (not necessarily in this order). They will be taking turns operating /m with their own calls, while the other drives. Look for them on CW and possibly PH if Gary can figure out how to work the mic!
  • WA4JA/m, John from Columbia, TN will be mobile (phone only) 80-10m to pick up Clay, Cleburne, Randolph and Chambers counties along the east central part.
  • KB4KBS/m, Scott (from Georgia) with his wife driving, is planning to operate from Jackson, DeKalb, Marshall, Etowah and Cherokee counties. SSB only on 40m and 20m but will be checking 10m during his travels.
  • W4AN/m K4BAI/John and KU8E/Jeff from Columbus, GA will be operating mobile as W4AN/m, they are planning to visit Chambers, Lee, Macon, Tallapoosa, Macon, Montgomery, Lowndes, Butler, Conecuh, Monroe, Clarke, Washington, Mobile, Baldwin, Escambia, Conecuh, Covington, Geneva, Dale, Houston, Henry, Barbour and Russell counties.
